Artist Statement

I arrive at my designs using intuitive decision-making methods involving spatial problem-solving.The various modes of creation I employ are unified by a redundant, meditative nature.  I find repetitious processes and visual conceptions to be soothing and rewarding.  My artwork fits into a tradition of geometric, abstract, and boldly colored artwork by artists such as Piet Mondrian and Yayoi Kusama. My work utilizes both simplicity and complexity to establish a contemplative environment of both order and wonderment.

The primary motifs in my artwork are the hexagon and hexagonal grid. Originally discovered from organic forms in nature, I have since developed a deep personal relationship with these elements. The hexagon has become a mark of my identity, a reassurance of personal and global security, and a symbol of spirituality.  The idea of God as a geometer and the utilization of geometry for spiritual purposes is an ancient and diversified practice.  This history validates my own symbology wherein the hexagon represents the building blocks of our essential, non-material nature and the hexagonal grid represents the theoretical energy field that is the entirety of existence.  The abstraction of my work provides anonymity such that anyone may impose and withdraw anything that they may need.  My artwork stands as provision of what is lacking, a Utopian vision of abundance for the spirit.
